Cardiac Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR)

 

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with specific Cardiac expertise to join our surgical services team. This role is responsible for the delivery of high-quality direct and indirect patient care across the perioperative continuum, serving a diverse patient population including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. You will work in close coordination with surgeons and anesthesiologists while providing leadership to OR Technicians and auxiliary staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perioperative Care: Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement care plans for complex cardiac and general surgical procedures.
  • Clinical Coordination: Manage patient flow and unit organization while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
  • Leadership: Direct and guide OR Technicians and other personnel to maintain 2026 professional nursing standards.
  • Quality & Compliance: Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory standards while participating in Performance Improvement (PI) activities and unit in-services.

Schedule & Shift Details

  • Shift Format: 8-hour day shifts.
  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 07:00 – 15:00.

Mandatory On-Call Requirements
This position has strict on-call obligations with no exceptions. Call is taken from home via personal cell phone.

  • Weekday Call: Minimum of 1 night per week (max 2), from 23:00 – 07:00.
  • Weekend Call: Rotating schedule, occurring approximately every 5th weekend.
  • Weekend Coverage: Includes 24-hour coverage for both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Response Time: You must be able to report to the facility within 30 minutes of being called in.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of previous Perioperative experience; Pre/Post-Op experience is highly valued.
  • Certifications:
    • At Hire: Current BLS (AHA).
    • Within 30 Days: Current ACLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA).
    • Preferred: Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) via AORN.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
