Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse – Surgical

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our surgical team. The LVN will play a crucial role in providing pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout their surgical journey.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-operative Preparation:

    • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including taking vital signs, documenting medical history, and ensuring all pre-operative procedures are completed accurately.
    • Educate patients and families about the surgical process, post-operative expectations, and recovery protocols.
  2. Intra-operative Support:

    • Assist the surgical team by preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and properly sterilized.
    • Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile field and provide assistance during surgical procedures as required.
  3. Post-operative Care:

    • Monitor post-operative patients closely, assessing their vital signs, pain levels, and overall recovery progress.
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patients are comfortable and their needs are met.
  4. Wound Care and Monitoring:

    • Provide specialized wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection or complications.
    • Educate patients on wound care techniques and signs to watch for post-discharge.
  5. Documentation and Collaboration:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient care interventions, and outcomes.
    • Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Active LVN license in Texas.
  • Previous experience in a surgical setting or related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative care protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certifications related to surgical nursing or perioperative care.
